SUPER SOCKS S
Miss S puts on her super socks whenever she is afraid or sad. The children decorated their own super sock to be used as a super cape on their Miss S paper bag puppet. The children also listened to the tempo of Miss S's song as the moved around the classroom. Ask your child to tell you what are some of her favorite things. They should respond with such things as: scissors, number 7, sandbox, stars, snakes, snow and sun. In addition, we made the letter S into snake.
We were inspired by the big book, "When It Snows," By: JoAnne Nelson. To create our first journal page, the children were asked to draw and write what they like to do in the snow.

Zig Zag Zipper
Many Jefferson 4K students are members of the Zipper Club. Ask your child if they are? Being able to zipper their jackets is another sign that your child is growing up and gaining independent skills. Please encourage your child to try every day if they are still learning to zipper.
The children were introduced to the letter Z with Mr. Z. He has zippers all over himself.... zipper hair, zipper for a mouth, zippers on his shoes, etc. We practiced zipping using real zippers as we listened to his song. His big book focused on finding a zebra at a zoo. As you can guess his favorite place to visit is the ZOO! We enjoyed the books "Dear Zoo" and "Good Night Gorilla" Plus, the children painted a large letter z with stripes and zig zags.
We learned about Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr. and painted a hand with watercolors to remember his dream. Here is a picture of Mrs. Palesse's afternoon class.
